Chess Club

Chess is part of the curriculum in many nations. Studies have shown chess can dramatically improve pupils levels of concentration, boost problem solving skills and develop their thought processes.

​

During each Semester students in years 4 to 6 are invited to form classroom based teams to compete in the annual Yangebup Chess Cup. Teams compete in a round robin format which provides opportunities for students to test themselves against different levels of ability.

Individual points are also earned by students during matches. The student with the overall highest score receives their own chess set to take home at the end of the season.

Choir

YPS have a school choir who meet Thursday lunch times in selected weeks.

Instrumental Music School Services

Selected students are invited to participate in music lessons with teachers who visit from the Educations Department's Instrumental Music Program.

We are fortunate to have a partnership with Perth Music Agency offering one-on-one instrumental tuition, on-site, during school hours. This is a fee-for-service program, where your child will receive individual, professional tutoring in Piano, Guitar, Ukulele or Vocals.

 

The sessions are held each week, and are timetabled around the school timetable for maximum benefit of both our regular instruction programs and the music tutoring.

Enrolment with Perth Music Agency is available by completing and submitting the enrolment form, with fees payable on a termly basis.
